Practice Overview

Richard C. Watters practices civil litigation with an emphasis on plaintiff’s catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, UM/UIM, product liability, and aviation accidents. He has completed over 95 civil jury trials to verdict in state and federal court, including 13 significant jury verdicts since 2000.

Background

Mr. Watters was born and raised in Fresno, California. He was admitted to the California State Bar and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California in 1974. He is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court, Central District of California. Mr. Watters received his B.S. Degree, cum laude, and M.B.A. Degree from California Sate University, Fresno and his J.D. Degree from the University of Santa Clara.

Professional and Community Activities

Mr. Watters is a member of the Fresno County and American Bar Associations, The State Bar of California, American Board of Trial Advocates (Advocate; Cal-ABOTA Co-Trial Lawyer of the Year 2006), International Society of Barristers (Fellow), American College of Trial Lawyers (Fellow), International Academy of Trial Lawyers (Fellow), and Patron Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Watters has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2005 and been in the Top 100 twelve times and Top 10 three times.

Mr. Watters served as a Sergeant in the California Air National Guard from 1966-1972. He is a Speaker and Panelist in the field of Plaintiff Civil Litigation. Mr. Watters is active in community activities and at St. John’s Cathedral.
