Practice Overview

Douglas L. Gordon practices civil litigation with an emphasis on plaintiff’s wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, products liability, UIM/UM, and medical malpractice. He has completed approximately 20 civil jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts and has extensive experience in all stages of litigation.

Background

Mr. Gordon was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. He was admitted to the California State Bar and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California in 1993. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California.

Mr. Gordon received his B.A. Degree, cum laude, from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1983. He received an M.A. Degree in Linguistics from the University of South Carolina in 1988, and his J.D. Degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1992.

Professional and Community Activities

Mr. Gordon is a member of the Fresno County Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the Consumer Attorneys of California, as well as the National Lawyers Guild. Since 2008 he has been active on the Board of the San Joaquin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, acting as Ninth Circuit Representative for 3 years, Co-Chair of the Eastern District Conference 2009-2011, and currently President of the Board. He has been retained by the State Bar of California as an expert witness on personal injury litigation in attorney disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Gordon was the recipient of the 2018 Blaine Petit Mentor Award from the Fresno County Young Lawyers Association. He has been a speaker at numerous MCLE seminars and has participated in various high school law-related civics activities at CART and through annual Civil Rights presentations of the FBA. He is active in pro bono work, having represented several prisoners in Section 1983 lawsuits as well as one unaccompanied minor who received residency status. He also performs volunteer pro tem settlement conferences on behalf of the Fresno County Superior Court.

Mr. Gordon has received an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, and has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2008.

Mr. Gordon spends his free time playing drums in a garage band, playing an occasional game of basketball, hiking, traveling, and spending time with his wife and teenage daughter.
